28th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon Set For Sept. 14

MALIBU (CBSLA.com)   —  The 28th annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon is set for Sept. 14.

Spectators are encouraged to attend the event presented by Equinox to help raise money for Children's Hospital of Los Angeles' pediatric cancer department. Bleachers will be located at lifeguard tower 14, and bleachers at the finish line offer the best vantage points.

Every year, more than 5,000 athletes from around the county compete in the grueling competition. Race begins at 7 a.m. near lifeguard tower 14.

The race consists of a half-mile swim, 18-mile bike race and a 4-mile run.

As always, many celebrities are expected to race. Confirmed stars include Jon Cryer ("Two and a Half Men"), Teri Hatcher ("Desperate Housewives"), Chace Crawford ("Gossip Girl"), Colin Egglesfield ("All My Children," "Rizzoli & Isles"), Josh Hopkins ("Cougar Town"), Mark Fuerstein ("Royal Pains"), E! News' Jason Kennedy and model/actress Ali Landry, to name just a few.
