22-Year-Old Man Killed, Suspect Arrested In Shooting Near El Monte Business

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — A suspect was taken into custody Monday for fatally shooting another man in South El Monte, authorities said.

Higino Gonzalez, 22, died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 8:25 a.m. in the 9600 block of Alpaca Street, according to the sheriff's department.

Authorities say Higino Gonzalez died at the scene of a shooting Monday.

The shooting occurred in an industrial area near a local business, according to an LASD Temple Sheriff's Station spokesman.

There was no immediate information on whether either the victim or the suspect worked at the business or why the shooting occurred at that location.

CBS2's Dave Lopez reported the alleged killer was detained by people at the crime scene until law enforcement personnel arrived.
