21-Year-Old Irvine Man Shot During Attempted Robbery Dies 12 Days Later

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old Irvine man shot last month during an attempted robbery has died.

Authorities said Mansour Alhazawbar died Jan. 31 after the Jan. 19 attack that occurred around 12:10 a.m.

At that time, Alhazawbar was able to use his cellphone to call Santa Ana police to tell them he had been shot.

Officers located him in the 500 block of South Maxine Street sitting in the driver's seat of his car.

Alhazawbar had been shot once in the upper torso. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment. He later died from his injuries at the Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey.

Detectives believe the suspect confronted Alhazawbar demanding all his property at gunpoint. When Alhazawbar told the suspect he had nothing, the suspect shot the victim and fled on foot.

Detectives are requesting anyone with information about this case to contact them at (714) 245-8390 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS
