A 21-year-old was killed following a crash in Lake Elsinore on Saturday morning.

It happened at around 1:15 a.m. on eastbound lanes of SR-74 west of Grand Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

They say that the driver, behind the wheel of a 2000 Ford Explorer, was traveling at an unknown speed when his vehicle veered to the right and collided with a tree.

The force of the impact caused the car to overturn onto its roof, partially ejecting the driver, who police say was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was declared dead at the scene.

He has since been identified as Isaac Romero of Lake Elsinore.

Police say that alcohol impairment was possibly a factor in the incident.
