20 Downtown LA Buildings Briefly Lose Power At Start Of Business Day

LOS ANGELES (AP) — About 20 large buildings lost power briefly in downtown Los Angeles at the start of the business day.

Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Carol Tucker says the outage occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday.

Tucker says a major transmission line went dead and had to be restarted. Power was fully restored around 8:50 a.m.

The cause of the outage is under investigation.

Tucker says the buildings, mainly commercial with some residential units, share several large transformers.
