2 People Critically Injured In Long Beach Shooting, Suspects Taken Into Custody
LONG BEACH (CBSLA) — A shooting in Long Beach left and man and woman critically injured Wednesday night.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were in the area of Santa Fe Avenue and West 19th Street around 6:30 p.m. when they heard gunshots.
Upon their arrival, officers found a male and female victim on the 1600 block of 19th Street, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
Both victims were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
According to neighbors, the shooting happened after the owners — a husband and wife — of a four-unit apartment building knocked on one of the apartment doors to collect January's rent. Neighbors said the couple living inside refused to pay rent and that's when shots were fired.
LBPD took one woman into custody following the shooting. After a two-hour barricade, police took a man into custody.
