2 Petroleum Tanks Burn In Fillmore

FILLMORE (AP) — Two petroleum tanks containing a total of about 100 barrels of crude oil are burning in the Ventura County backcountry near Fillmore.

County Fire Department Capt. Mike Lindbery says the fire was reported about 9:56 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters responded but Lindbery says a decision was made to let the fire burn itself out.

The cause of the fire is unknown and there are no reports of injuries.

The tanks stored oil pumped from local wells. One contained 75 barrels of crude and the other held 25 barrels.

Fillmore is in an agricultural region about 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
