2 Men Gunned Down In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said two men were gunned down in South Los Angeles about ten minutes and 20 blocks apart and possibly involving the same getaway car.

The car in both shootings -- vaguely described by police as "a white vehicle," was spotted at the killings just after midnight in two neighborhoods straddling the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway near Avalon Boulevard, in South Los Angeles.

At 12:20 a.m., someone in a white car fired a number of rounds at a victim at 347 E. 116th St., said Los Angeles police Lt. Timothy Kalkus of the Southeast station. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Jacoby Plummer, said Coroner's Lt. David Smith.

About 10 minutes later, in a rear alley at 849 E. 120th St., an unknown number of suspects approached a person as he was standing next to his car and fired several shots hitting the man.

The deceased was later identified as Calvin Williams, 38, said Smith. The coroner had no addresses for either victim.

Police said they were investigating if the same vehicle was used in the attacks.

Authorities said the shootings could be gang-related.

Southeast station detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the murders to call them at (213) 972-7828.
