Two killed, 5 wounded in Willowbrook shooting

2 Dead. 5 Injured in Willowbrook shooting

Two people were killed, including a teen boy, and another five wounded, in a shooting in a residential Willowbrook neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

The shooting occurred at about 3 p.m. in the 12200 block of Blakley Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies arrived on scene to find two people dead at the scene. They were identified Monday as 17-year-old Devin Pugh of Downey and 40-year-old Timothy Ford Sr. of Moreno Valley.

Another four men and a woman were injured, the sheriff's department said. All were expected to survive.

"Just like a movie, like a movie, something that I didn't expect to see. People shot in different places, on the ground, babies, my baby," Laquincy Zimmerman, the mother of one of the victims, told CBSLA.

She said she was around the corner when the shooting occurred and her younger son called her.

"The call was him, screaming, telling me that they were shooting and they were shooting a lot."

Zimmerman's older son, a 21-year-old, was standing in the doorway of their home and was hit.

"He went through surgery for five hours and so far so good," she said.

A neighbor was having a barbecue with his motorcycle club when witnesses said two cars pulled up and gunmen opened fire.

"It sounded like fireworks at first," one neighbor said.

"Being from around here, I knew at that moment that it wasn't fireworks," witness Omar Camacho said. "It was like a back-and-forth, back-and-forth type of thing."

Though investigators are not releasing any information on the suspects, many neighbors on the block had security cameras rolling when shooters in the two vehicles fired off more than 30 rounds into homes, a crowd of people and then sped away.

"If somebody saw something or knows something, you should speak up. This is insane, this is sickening. You guys are taking from innocent people, from their families who do not deserve this," Zimmerman said.

Authorities with LASD were at the scene of the shooting for about 15 hours working to gather evidence and speak to witnesses continue to investigate the incident.
