2 Killed, 5 Injured After Vehicles Collide In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed and five others sustained injuries during a traffic collision that took place in Pasadena, police said Tuesday.

Just after midnight, officers were sent to the area of El Molino Avenue at Maple Street for report of a traffic collision, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located two vehicles involved in the crash.

Paramedics pronounced two victims dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending family notification.

Five other victims were transported to hospitals with varying conditions.

Officers have urged the public to avoid El Molino Avenue at Maple Street due to traffic congestion.

The fatal collision is expected to cause traffic backups and detours until further notice.

As an alternative, consider taking Orange Grove Boulevard and Walnut Street for westbound travel and Los Robles and Lake avenues for northbound and southbound travel.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
