2 Killed, 2 Injured In Wreck Off 605 Freeway

CITY OF INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — At least two people were killed after a car overturned over the side of the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in the City of Industry.

The crash was first reported at 7:34 a.m. north of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. A woman and a girl in the passenger seat died at the scene, and two others -- also female -- were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

The victims names were withheld pending notification of their relatives.

According to the preliminary investigation, the 2005 Pontiac Grand Am went off the road of the southbound 605 Freeway and struck a tree. A SigAlert was declared for the slow lane of the 605 Freeway to allow crews to clear the scene.

The roadway was cleared and the SigAlert canceled at 11:23 a.m.
