2 Hospitalized Following 9-Car Crash On 170 Freeway In Valley Glen

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two people were hospitalized Saturday evening following a crash on the 170 Freeway involving at least nine cars, officials said.

The crash occurred just after 6:40 p.m. in the Valley Glen area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The ages, genders and conditions of the victims was not available, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash -- on the southbound side of the freeway -- occurred just north of Sherman Way, and closed two southbound lanes for a little more than an hour, authorities said.

Traffic was backed up for miles but all lanes were reopened by about 8 p.m., the CHP reported.
