2 Arrested In Connection With $3 Million Marijuana Cultivation In LA

INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — Deputies Thursday announced the arrest of two suspects who cultivated marijuana for sale in the City of Industry.

On Wednesday, an anonymous tip lead deputies to serve a search warrant in the 1300 block of Darius Court.

According to the Industry Sheriff's Station, the deputies subsequently discovered hundreds of marijuana plants in various stages of growth, which was estimated to be worth over $3 million.

"This is the second large seizure of marijuana being grown indoors locally in as many months," said Lt. John Gannon.

Hydroponic equipment, which was used to cultivate the plants inside of the local business and warehouse area, was also recovered at the scene.

Officials said David Nguyen, 32, and Phong Nguyen, 54, were taken into custody on suspicion of cultivation and sales of marijuana.

Both suspects are from Vietnamese decent, and claimed to be from out of state with no local residence. They are each being held on $50,000 at the Industry Station jail.
