18-year-old suspect arrested after woman shot and killed while driving in Anaheim

CBS News Los Angeles

An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing a 48-year-old woman while she was driving in Anaheim, police said Saturday.

Charlene Zuazo was found dead inside a crashed car when officers responded to the 700 block of North Vine Street around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Anaheim Police Department. She had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Around the same time, other officers were responding to reports of gunshots heard about a half mile away near Vine Street and Cypress Street.

Investigators believe the Anaheim woman had driven away from the shooting scene before crashing into a parked car.

Jerry Gutierrez, a resident of Cudahy, has been identified by police as the suspected killer. He was arrested Friday and booked into the Anaheim Police Department on suspicion of murder.

The case will be presented to the Orange County District Attorney's Office for consideration of charges.

No other details are being release since the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information can reach Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
