Police: 17-Year-Old Boy Dead After Playing Russian Roulette

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — A 17-year-old boy who died after a shooting in a Torrance home early Monday morning was shot while playing Russian roulette, authorities said.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Carson Station responded to Harbor Cove apartment building along the 900 block of West Carson Street shortly after midnight regarding a gunshot call. When they arrived, they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound, detectives said.

A loaded gun was found near the building, according to CBS2's Jasmine Viel. Family members said they don't know where the victim obtained the gun, so they tossed the gun out of the apartment in fear, according to Viel.

A total of four people - all under the age of 18 years old - were with the victim when the shooting occurred, Viel reported.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No charges will be filed in the case.
