16-Year-Old Skateboarder Killed In Yorba Linda Accident

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a 16-year-old died four hours after a van hit him as he rode a skateboard on a busy road in Yorba Linda.

Logan Wells, a resident of Yorba Linda, was hit just before 5 a.m. on Bastanchury Road, west of Secretariat Way, said Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The driver, driving a Kia van, was not injured. He was not cited or arrested, Hallock said.

"[The driver] actually made the 911 call," the sheriff's lieutenant said.

Paramedics rushed Wells to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead at 9:37 a.m., according to the Coroner's Office.
