17 Detained After Panga Boat Spotted Off Palos Verdes

PALOS VERDES (CBSLA.com) — A panga boat was found Friday morning off the coast of Palos Verdes.

The 25- to 30-foot boat, typically used for fishing, was spotted by a bystander around 8:15 a.m. near Lunada Bay, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Authorities detained 17 suspected undocumented immigrants, two women and 15 men, at Rocky Point Road, according to ICE.

Four people were transported to a local hospital for treatment of hypothermia.

No drugs were found on the boat.
