14-Year-Old Arrested For Residential Burglary, Theft Of Shotguns, Jewelry
NEEDLES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have arrested a 14-year-old on suspicion of residential burglary in Needles in San Bernardino County.
Officials said on Tuesday, deputies with the Colorado River-Needles Station responded to the 100 block of Erin Drive just before noon following the report of a residential burglary.
The burglary occurred between 7 a.m., and 10 a.m.. authorities said.
Two male suspects allegedly entered the home through an unlocked rear door. Items taken from the home included three shotguns, three rifles, a 40 cal. handgun and jewelry. The suspects were last seen walking out into an open field west of the residence carrying the objects wrapped in a tan blanket.
Witnesses described the 14-year-old who was apparently known to authorities. Around 6:50 a.m. Friday, the teen was located, interviewed and later arrested on residential burglary charges as well as on a theft of firearms charge.
The unidentified suspect was transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility in San Bernardino. The suspect reportedly also had a "no bail" warrant from a previous burglary charge.
The teen's alleged accomplice is at large.
The investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the accomplice and the location of the stolen guns.
