5 Transported To Hospital After Bus Collides With Tree, Electrical Pole In Westwood

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A Metro bus early on Sunday morning ran off the road and collided with a tree and electrical pole, injuring 15 people and sending five to the hospital.

Four passengers and the driver of the bus were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. They were said to be in stable condition and likely will be released later in the day. There were 15 people reportedly on the bus. All of the occupants of the bus are expected to recover from their injuries.

The crash happened around 2:10 a.m. in the 10600 block of West Wilshire Boulevard, police say.

The bus driver told police she passed out before the crash.

Police tell CBS2/KCAL9 that, at this time, they don't suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
