104-Year-Old Woman Celebrates Birthday In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  A centenarian woman celebrated another big birthday Saturday among friends and family at the Saint John of God Retirement and Care Center.

First AME Church member Rosie Tilles turned 104-years-old, celebrating with friends Ruby Norman, 103, and 102-year-old Eleanor Waller.

"The women have served the church and the Los Angeles community together for several decades as members of the church's Women's Missionary Society," said Michael Ellis of the First AME Church.

The celebration kicked off at noon and included a special dance tribute by the Devine Praise Dancers.

Tilles also received a special letter from President Barack Obama and other congratulatory speeches.
