1 Wounded In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Willowbrook

WILLOBROOK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding an overnight deputy-involved shooting.

The incident unfolded on 118th and Main streets about 3:46 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The statement said deputies responded to the location following a report of a narcotics sale.

"Deputies also learned that the man was possibly armed," Deputy Navarro-Suarez told KNX 1070.

When they arrived on scene, they made contact with the suspect, described as a Hispanic male adult, who allegedly produced a firearm.

The statement said a deputy then opened fire, striking the suspect once.

The man was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition. No deputies were hurt.

The incident was being investigated, authorities said.
