1 Person Shot Dead Along S. Hill Street In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Authorities say one person has been shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles.

The shooting unfolded on 14th and Hill streets just before 6 a.m. Sunday, in an industrial area. Police officers converged on the area after getting reports of a drive-by shooting.

"Right now we're not clear as to why the victim was here, this is a very quiet area of the city...We don't actually have any eyewitnesses," said LAPD Captain Stacy Spell.

Police on scene cordoned off the block of S. Hill between W. 14th and W. 15th streets, and were searching for evidence. As of Sunday afternoon they had not yet identified the victim.

Police were also searching for a suspect who reportedly took off in a vehicle along the 10 Freeway. They do not have a description of the possible shooter.
