1 Person Killed, Several Injured As MTA Bus Plows Into Cars In Willowbrook

WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA) — One man was killed and 10 people injured after an MTA bus plowed into cars in Willowbrook early Sunday morning.

The bus was heading southbound on Alameda Street around 2:10 a.m. when it veered into four parked vehicles and caused a chain reaction collision.

One of the vehicles, a Ford E-150 van, was propelled onto the sidewalk where a group of people were standing by a taco stand. The van struck 32-year-old Jose Hernandez of Lynwood, who was later pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital.

One of the injured parties was reported in serious condition at the time of this report. The remaining victims reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
