1 Killed In South Los Angeles Apartment Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say one person has died following an apartment fire in South Los Angeles.

Firefighters arrived to the 3400 block of Clarington Avenue in the area of Palms just before 2 p.m. on Friday following a report of a fire.

When they arrived, they found one unit burning.

"LA City Fire made a very aggressive attack on that fire in that back unit. They kept the fire from spreading to other parts of this apartment," reported Sky9's Stu Mundel.

Mundel said firefighters found the deceased as soon as they were able to make entry into the unit.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
