1 Killed In Shooting At Luxury Building In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A person was killed Saturday in a reported shooting at a building in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

Police responded to a report of shots fired along the 800 block of east Flower Avenue near 8th Street, according to LAPD Media Relations.

One victim was found dead at the scene, police said. Police initially said another person was injured but later amended that report.

CBS2's Laurie Perez reporting from the he scene said a suspect remained at large following a floor-by-floor search of the entire building by a SWAT team.

Police said a series of "shots fired" 911 calls first came in around 2:15 p.m.

They said they arrived on scene and found the victim -- a white male in his 20s or 30s -- in the hallway of the second floor.

One witness told Perez, "I heard what sounded like three gunshots... and then about 15 minutes later, I heard the sirens. And I came downstairs and there was a guy holding an AR-15 on me."

While investigators have been unable to find a witness to the shooting, Perez reported the building had extensive video surveillance and police are hoping the video will lead them to a suspect.
