1 Killed In Fiery Crash Off 91 Freeway In Anaheim

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — One person died early Monday morning when his car went off the side of the Riverside (91) Freeway, landed next to a transition road and burst into flames.

The Orange County coroner's office reported the victim was a male, but did not release his age.

The accident was reported at 2:23 a.m. on the transition from the southbound Orange (57) Freeway to the eastbound Riverside Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It appeared the Mercedes E350, with one person inside, came off a Riverside Freeway overpass and landed on some brush next to the transition road, before bursting into flames, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said. Firefighters put out the flames.

A SigAlert was briefly issued for the southbound Orange Freeway to the eastbound Riverside Freeway for the investigation.
