1 Killed, 4 Injured In Crash On 71 Freeway In Pomona

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say one person was killed and four others were injured in a two-car crash on 71 Freeway in Pomona.

The crash unfolded on the thoroughfare at Old Pomona Road just before 11:50 p.m. Friday, and spurred the closure of all southbound lanes, and at least one northbound lane for several hours.

Police said one of the cars was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and collided with a vehicle traveling on the southbound lanes.

Authorities were working to identify the person killed in the collision. Moderate to serious injuries were sustained by the others involved in the crash.

The crash remained under investigation. Anyone with more information about this collision was asked to call the Pomona Police Department Traffic Services Bureau at (909) 620-2081.
