1 Killed, 2 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Oxnard

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say one person has been killed and two others sustained major injuries following a three-car crash in Oxnard.

The collision on Rice Avenue at Camino Del Sol was reported Saturday morning about 6:09 a.m., Oxnard police said in a written statement.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Maxima was traveling south on Rice Avenue when it attempted to turn east on Camino Del Sol, colliding head-on with a Ford Escort.

Subsequent to that crash, a Mercedes sport utility vehicle struck the Nissan.

Police said three people inside the Ford were transported to area hospitals, where one died. The two others were said to have sustained major injuries.

The drivers of the Nissan and Mercedes were not injured.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in causing the crash.
