1 Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting In El Monte

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — A male suspect was wounded Tuesday in a shooting involving a police officer in a parking lot outside a liquor store in El Monte.

No officers were injured in the shooting, which was reported at about 6 p.m. in the 10500 block of Garvey Avenue, the Sheriff's Information Bureau said.

The suspect was knocking over items in the store, police said, and then told officers that he had a gun and would shoot them. When he reached for his waistband, officers shot him, police said.

The suspect was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives were assisting El Monte police in the shooting investigation.
