1 Injured In Metro Blue Line Collision With Car

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Los Angeles County authorities say a Metro Blue Line train derailed after colliding with a car and injuring one person.

Metro says the crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. at 119th Street and Willowbrook Avenue.

County fire officials say one person was hospitalized with a minor injury. It wasn't immediately known if the injured person was in the car or train.

Blue Line service has been suspended on that stretch of track and buses were sent to pick up passengers. Metro says delays are expected on northbound and southbound lines.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motorist made an illegal turn in front of the train and the car was struck, Metro spokesman Mose Ubaldo said.

The signals and crossing arms were working properly, Ubaldo said.
