Man Stabbed Onboard Metro Bus In Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a stabbing that injured one person on board a Metro bus.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, crews were sent around 6:17 a.m. to the intersection of West Rosecrans Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard for report of a victim that was stabbed.

Upon their arrival, paramedics transported an adult man to a trauma center for treatment of injuries. He remains listed in stable condition at this time.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect used a box cutter or knife to slash the victim's face, officials explained.

Police said the suspect fled from the scene, and is believed to have boarded a different bus.

An adult man was arrested shortly after 7 a.m. near Crenshaw and Martin Luther King boulevards, however, authorities found that he was not responsible for the stabbing, according to LASD Transit Services.

The suspect remains at large.

The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation as officials plan to review surveillance video.
