Man Killed, Twin Brother Injured After Explosive Fire Erupts At Home In Norwalk

NORWALK (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Friday extinguished a blaze that erupted within a home in Norwalk.

The fire broke out shortly after 3 a.m. in the 10800 block of Van Ruiten Street, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located a two-story residence fully engulfed in flames.

The roof of the home collapsed as a result of the fire.

Paramedics treated a man at the scene for smoke inhalation injuries sustained in the fire. There was no immediate update on his condition.

The victim's twin brother, who was presumably trapped within the home, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

CBS2's Greg Mills reported the victims lived together at the residence, which once belonged to their parents.

Neighbors said they heard an explosion early this morning before the fire erupted in the home.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
