1 Dead In South El Monte Shooting

SOUTH EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — One man is dead in a shooting in South El Monte, officials said.

The shooting took place in the 2000 block of Durfee Avenue, at Peck, just before 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Sheriff's Homicide Detectives were sent to investigate. The chooting reportedly took place in the parking lot of a 99 Cents Only store.

The man -- only described as an adult -- was pronounced dead at the scene.
