1 dead, 4 wounded after shooting in South Los Angeles

One person is dead and four others were wounded in a shooting that happened in an unincorporated part of South Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon. 

It happened at around 2:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of S. Manhattan Place, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. 

Circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, but deputies were called to the scene after learning of a gunshot victim in the area. 

"Upon arrival, deputies encountered 4 male adults and 1 female adult suffering from gunshot wounds," said LASD's press release. 

One of the men was declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. The four other victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment and all are said to be in stable condition. 

No information was provided on a possible suspect or motive in the shooting.
