1 dead, 1 wounded after shooting at Metro bus stop in Reseda

Police are investigating a shooting that hospitalized two people at a Metro bus stop in Reseda on Friday. 

According to Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened a little before 7:30 p.m. at the Orange Line bus stop located at Reseda Boulevard and Oxnard Street. 

Two people were shot and taken to nearby hospitals, police said. 

"The two victims had arrived at the Orange Line bus station and were involved in a confrontation with the suspect," said a statement from LAPD. "During the confrontation, the suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple times at the victims. The suspect then fled the scene."

One of the victims, since identified as 28-year-old Van Nuys man Brandyn Rodrigo Mendez, died after arriving. 

The second victim is said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery on Friday evening. 

Police are still searching for the gunman and working to determine a motive.
