1 Dead, 1 Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash On 118 Freeway

GRANADA HILLS  (CBSLA.com)  —  The CHP says one man was killed and a woman injured in a two-vehicle crash on the eastbound 118 Freeway.

The crash occurred around 3:15 a.m. near Encino Avenue, authorities said.

The accident happened when an Audi driven by a 29-year-old North Hollywood resident reportedly rear-ended a female Toyota driver in the third lane.

After colliding, the Toyota came to rest on the right shoulder but the Audi traveled up a south embankment and caught fire.

The driver of the Audi was declared dead at the scene. His name is withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The Toyota driver -- a resident of North Hills -- had minor injuries, according to a CHP report.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
