1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Woodland Hills Apartment Fire Called 'A Crime Scene'

WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com)  —  One person is dead and another seriously injured in an apartment fire in Woodland Hills Saturday evening that officials called "a crime scene."

One unit of a three-story building located in the 21600 block of Burbank Boulevard was well-involved when firefighters were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m.

CBS2's Brittney Hopper arrived on scene and was being kept about a block away.

Officials told her that the area was being cordoned off as "a crime scene."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Brian Humphrey with the Los Angeles Fire Department said one adult male had a major burn injury.That victim was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition, Hopper reported.

A second person was discovered inside the unit without vital signs. That victim -- a female relative of the burned man -- was  declared dead at the scene, said the LAFD.
