1 Arrested, 1 Wanted In Alleged Drug Lab Fire In Compton

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A suspect was in custody and another was on the run Tuesday following a fire at a house that was apparently being used as a drug lab.

The fire was sparked around 3:15 a.m. at a home in the 1100 block of West 137th Street in Compton, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Authorities found chemicals at the location and believe the residence may have been used as a lab to make PCP.

After the fire broke started, two men were seen leaving in a van and a short pursuit ensued.

During the chase, the passenger jumped out of the vehicle and was arrested on arson charges. He sustained unknown injuries and burns during the incident and was transported to Gardena Hospital.

The driver of the van remains on the loose.
