$1.5 Million Powerball Ticket Sold In Rosemead

ROSEMEAD (CBSLA.com) —  Valentine's Day was much sweeter and a lot more flowery for someone in Rosemead holding a $1.5 million Powerball ticket.

That lucky person matched five of six numbers Saturday night to win $1,599,957.

The winning ticket matched the numbers 7, 15, 18, 19 and 36 missing only the Powerball 20. Had that ticket matched the Powerball number, the ticket holder would have won $176 million.

The winner was sold at 99 Cent + Gift Shop, which is located at 8825 Valley Boulevard.

The California Lottery urges that winner to sign the back of the ticket in ink, keep it in a safe place and visit any of the nine Lottery District Offices during business hours ASAP. The winner has 180 days from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize, otherwise the $1.5 million will be given to California public schools.

Because no one matched all six numbers the jackpot for Wednesday will climb to at least $189 million.

$2 Powerball is a multi-state game played in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST.

Powerball jackpots start at $40 million and climbs every time there is no winner. The biggest jackpot ever -- $1.586 billion -- was split last month by three ticket holders in Chino Hills, Tennessee and Florida.
