Twin brothers born on separate days; 1 is a Leap Day baby

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Twin brothers will celebrate their birthdays on different days, after one was born Feb. 28 and the other on Leap Day, Feb. 29.

Alta Bates Summit hospital spokeswoman Carolyn Kemp it's very unusual to have twins born on different days.

Kemp tells the Oakland Tribune (http://bayareane.ws/1oNYX6M) that the baby boys will remain in the hospital so they can grow after being born at 26 weeks.

Kemp says the boys are in stable condition despite being very small.

 One of the boys was born at 11:58 p.m. Feb. 28 and his brother at 12:09 a.m. Feb. 29.
Kemp says Alta Bates Summit delivers about 7,000 babies annually, or about 18 to 20 a day.
