1 Dead, 2 Injured After Car Crashes Into Home In Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) — At least one person is dead and another two injured after a car crashed into a Rancho Cordova home Sunday evening, authorities said.

The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. on the 10300 block of Georgetown Drive.

"It's like watching some horror movie that's real," Diana Burdick, a next-door-neighbor, said.

Burdick told CBS13 she had spoken to family members of the people who live at the home.

She and her husband said that a couple lived there with their mothers and their son.

"They're very good people. I mean come on. who takes in both parents, both mothers. That's a wonderful thing to do for someone," Burdick said.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said two people were pinned under the car after it crashed fully into the home. The victims were inside at the time of the collision.

Two were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. The third victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

"(They) were watching a football game, we believe, in the living room when the wall. And apparently hit the couple and it sounds like, we don't know the details for sure, it sounds like they hit the mother head on," Lorrin Burdick said.

Neighbors say Coloma Road, which is the main drag near Georgetown Drive, has seen its fair share of accidents.

Folks we talked to told us they can't imagine what this family is going through right now after having to deal with something so unexpected and unthinkable.

"The only thing you can say is that on something like this you feel so violated. You're in your own home doing nothing wrong. Didn't do anything to anybody to provoke this," Diana Burdick said.

The Burdicks told CBS13 a car crashed into this house about 20 years ago.

Deputies said the driver is being questioned. No arrest has been made and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

This is a developing story. We will update you as we learn new information.
