The master developer, Downtown Railyards Venture, LLC is currently planning the transformation of the former terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad into an urban mixed-use transit oriented development. Anchored by an 18-acre Kaiser Permanente medical complex, a Major League Soccer stadium and a historical Central Shops District, the Railyards will be an 18-hour urban mixed-use village that will add much-needed market-rate housing into Sacramento's downtown along with office, public open spaces and parks, historic and cultural amenities, and many other resources.
