Northern California Safeway Workers Threaten Strike Over Wages And Hours

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Approximately 14,000 union workers at Safeway stores across northern California are threatening to go on strike.

The workers' union has canceled its contract with the chain, demanding higher wages and more full-time opportunities for its employees.

The union needs permission from their international counter-part for an official strike.

In the meantime, the workers will stage informational pickets.
