Suspicious Bag At Mountain House High Did Not Contain Explosives, Authorities Say

MOUNTAIN HOUSE (CBS13) — The suspicious backpack investigation at Mountain House High School has ended. The bag did not contain a suspicious device, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said.

Early Monday afternoon, the bag and a note warning that there was a bomb inside of the bag were found in the school's multi-purpose room. The Sheriff's Office says the note and bag prompted an investigation.

As a precaution, the school and several nearby homes were evacuated. The Sheriff's Office bomb squad came to the school and investigated the bag, including x-raying it.

School administrators as well as the Sheriff's Office are investigating who is behind the incident.

Students were walked over to Julius Cordes Elementary School to be picked up by family members.
