Man Accused Threatening To Kill 2 Men In Immigration Argument

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (AP) - A Utah man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a corrections officer and threatening to kill two men he accused of being in the country illegally.

Police said 41-year-old Jerred Martin Loftus and three other men approached a pair of men on a trail outside of Provo Sunday and got into a heated argument.

During the argument, Loftus allegedly said he was a corrections officer who had a gun.

One of the men said Loftus threatened to kill them and bury their bodies in the woods.

Police searching Loftus's truck found a handgun and several magazines. He allegedly told police he had been a corrections officer in the past.

He has been released from jail after posting bail.

No number was publicly listed for Loftus. It's unclear if he is being represented by an attorney.
