Hackers put 'poop' on roadway message board in New Jersey

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) — Officials say hackers temporarily changed the message on a southern New Jersey roadway sign to the word "poop."

The Press of Atlantic City reports (http://bit.ly/29mKoAl ) the word flashed repeatedly on Wednesday in Mays Landing on an electric message board near a road construction project. The message remained until state Transportation Department officials contacted the contractor responsible for the sign and asked that the word be removed.

Officials say message boards are secured with locks to prevent vandalism.
