Gina Rodriguez Launches #MovementMonday To Support Latinos In The Media

Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez is taking matters into her own hands to tackle the controversy surrounding the Oscars.

She penned an open letter to launch #MovementMonday, which will highlight a Latino actor or actress every Monday in hopes that the larger community will support films that the actor appears in.
More support from the Latino community, she says, is what's needed to prove that Latino cultures need to be represented in the media.
" #MovementMondays, pick any Latino currently working we can support," she wrote.
"There are 55 million Latinos in this country and although we all come from various backgrounds, our unity can make a movie explode at the box office or a TV show soar to the highest viewers possible."
Her first #MovementMonday post recognized Guatemalan-American actor Oscar Isaac for his performance in Ex Machina. Isaac also appeared in Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens.
Be sure to catch Gina in Jane The Virgin every Monday night at 8pm right here on The CW Philly.
