Florida Man Allegedly Tries To Carjack Unmarked Police Car

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay area man is facing charges after authorities say he tried to carjack an unmarked police car.

A St. Petersburg police report says two undercover detectives were sitting in their vehicle last week when 27-year-old Dominique Albert opened their passenger door armed with a steak knife.

After both detectives yelled "police" and one drew his gun, Albert reportedly dropped his knife and tried to run away. The detectives caught up with Albert and placed him under arrest. The report says Albert was carrying two additional knives.

Albert faces multiple charges, including carjacking and assaulting a law enforcement officer. Jail records show he's being held on $170,000 bail. The records didn't list an attorney.
