Flea Infestation Closes Bay Area School

HAYWARD (CBS13) - Students at a school in the Bay Area were sent home Monday after their school was infested with fleas, according to reports.

KGO-TV in San Francisco says fleas and then flooding caused kids to be sent home early from Ruus Elementary School in Hayward.

The school's principal, Evelyn Ocasio, tells the station she believes the flooding started in the boys' restroom on Saturday when the school was vacant. On Monday she found three to four inches of water in the hallway.

The school already had the flea problem, KGO reports, so the school decided to close for the day to address both issues.
