Crews Search Calaveras County River For Missing Automotive Writer

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Authorities using boats and drones are searching a river for a veteran automotive journalist who went missing in Northern California while test-driving a motorcycle for a story.

Calaveras County Lt. Anthony Eberhardt said Monday crews are searching the Mokelumne River and a reservoir for David Gordon Johnson, who was reported missing June 5. Eberhardt said no foul play is suspected.

Johnson, who went by the byline Davey G. Johnson, was heading to his home in Sacramento when his girlfriend, Jaclyn Trop, and a friend last heard.

Search is still ongoing for Jaclyn Trop's boyfriend who was riding his motorcycle near Sacramento. Have you seen him?

Trop says Johnson was testing the motorcycle to write an article for Motorcyclist magazine.

Search crews found the motorcycle Friday at a rest stop. On Saturday, they found his clothes, cellphone and a laptop a few feet away from the fast-moving river.
